Saudi Arabia's efforts to combat human trafficking
- The Law on Combating Crimes of Trafficking in Persons was issued by Royal Decree No. M/40 dated 7/21/1430 AH, and other regulations were also issued that contribute to curbing this crime. His Highness the Minister of Interior also issued a decision to consider the crime of trafficking in persons as an arrestable offense.
- Forming a national committee to combat trafficking in persons at the Human Rights Commission.
- Adopting national action plans to combat trafficking in persons.
- Launching the national referral mechanism for victims of human trafficking.
- Training more than 7,000 beneficiaries from government and private entities and civil society organizations during the period 2020-2024 through 85 specialized training programs.
- Establish a separate prosecution for human trafficking offenses.
- Allocate judicial chambers to hear cases of trafficking in persons.
- Launching the Contractual Relationship Optimization Initiative.
- Establishing labor attachés in labor-exporting countries.
- Adopting a regulation for domestic and similar workers and establishing controls to improve contractual relations with them.
- Receiving reports of trafficking crimes through a number of hotlines and electronic applications.
- Activating the role of active research on victims and following up on websites and social media to monitor abuses.
- Intensify law enforcement efforts and the number of investigations and prosecutions of trafficking in persons cases.
- Creating administrative units and qualifying specialists in all police in the Kingdom's regions for the importance of combating these crimes.
